(yes I know. i'm losing a battle I don't want to fight... so i'm just chillen in a wrong?)
In any case, since I have made friends with my retailers, they cut me a discount. As they handed me my change from my purchase, I began eyeing the vast selection of lighters. I noticed they had my favorite brown BIC that is so hard to find (apparently not anymore_), and a selection of white, yellow, oranges, blacks, greens and various shades of blue.
I saw that yellow lighter and I knew it was mine. The guy, who calls me by some name of an old italian actress saw in my eyes that I wanted it and gave it to me for the change I should have received (which was an even cooler deal).
I picked it up as if it were some a victorious reward, and stopped. It wasn't so exciting on its own. It was a yellow lighter as any other typical yellow. it was like... hmm... a mix of school bus and lemon yellow. like... yellow. it didn't scream sunshine or summer, or even warning... just plain sitting, neutral yellow.
So i put it back where it sat- between an orange and some other color that created a visual wall. (i would assume a red or green... we can get into color theory at a later time if you'd like...)
I didn't like the yellow, so I must have been drawn to the orange... So i took it and pocketed it. I thanked the guy and left.
I pack the cigarettes, and took one out. (ps, one tried to escape so i flipped it and is now the lucky. all you moochers... get ready... you might have a good day or so.)
I took the lighter out and looked at it. This shit is hideous. It's freaking florescent orange. florescent orange... okay, some can pull that off... but with a red thumb tab... no.
I say no. what did I do?
I just went with something because it was something that 'wasn't', not because it was 'right'. I didn't even think about it. Now I am stuck with a really good lighter that I don't even want around.
I bet you I won't lose it either.
So walking, smoking this cigarette, I'm thinking to myself, well... I 'needed' the yellow lighter, but I didn't want the yellow when it wasn't next to the orange. they fit each other as a unit, but not separately. They are as they are, but not so much of a draw when they weren't sitting next to each other. So really... It was kinda a lose/lose situation if taken in a practical manner of fire rather than taking both lighters because they needed each other.
oh man. that was a read.
time for a cigarette.
beau, where are you?- oh... i guess that my cue to call since i changed my number. ha ha
